About Apollo Cannabis
Apollo Cannabis is a leading cannabis clinic and research organization, helping thousands of Canadians gain access to medical cannabis. Apollo Cannabis Clinics has specialized in prescribing medical cannabis to patients across Canada since 2014. In 2019, Apollo Cannabis was absorbed by Canopy Growth, Canada’s largest medical cannabis producer.
In addition to having several in person clinics throughout Canada, Apollo also serves patients virtually over Zoom or phone through their apollo@home program.
The Role
Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, XD, Sketch, Mailchimp
As the sole in-house Graphic Designer, I was hired to lead as Project Manager on rebranding the identity of Apollo. This entailed a completely new website design, colour palette, and a modern medical look and feel compared to the “recreational” look of the previous branding.
Below is the front and back designs of the tri-fold brochures that I created as the first wave of the new rebrand.
Marketing Materials
Here is a highlight of some of the marketing materials I created throughout my time at Apollo during the redesign. Some highlights include trade show booths, TTC transit subway ads, internal marketing materials and sign up forms and also a redesign of the Yonge and Eglinton storefront in Toronto.
Email Campaigns
During my time at Apollo, I managed campaigns and created new Mailchimp templates to go with the rebrand. I designed email templates that aligned with the brand refresh, and also performed well with high CTR’s, and mobile optimization.
Website Re-design
Acting as Project Manager and Design Lead, reporting to the VP of Marketing on the complete redesign of the Apollo website, I worked with a SEO/Design agency to aid in the creation and building of a new website. The previous iteration of the website was difficult to navigate and visually outdated. UI/UX was a big focus as many of the patients using the website were older, so coming up with a simple and clean design with a focus on conversions was key.
Each page for the new design was created in Adobe XD, and the website was built in WordPress. Wireframes were created by hand and then converted to high quality renders. I was also tasked with creating designs for a new shop to sell products, something that was not present in the original website design. I am proud to say that only 2 weeks after relaunching the website, both website traffic and conversions doubled and continued to grow steadily.
Instagram Stories
Below is a selection of two Instagram Story campaigns that were very successful in engaging patients. The one on the left was a promotion that was run during Valentine’s Day, and the one on the right was a campaign to show off the process to sign up as a new patient. My main goal for these designs was to not only drive user engagement, but also maintain the aesthetic of the new branding to develop a sense of brand recognition and loyalty.
